Webberville, TX

David Bland Kyser, affectionately known as Buck, was born in Austin, Texas, on October 13, 1949, to Bland and Charline Kyser. He graduated from Manor High School in 1968, earned an Associate of Arts from Blinn College in 1970, a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Southwest Texas University in 1972, a Master of Education from Sul Ross State University in 1984, and a second Master of Education with Superintendent Certification from Sul Ross State in 1986.

David dedicated his career to education, beginning as a teacher at Taylor High School in 1975. He served as Principal of Sierra Blanca Schools for four years and Superintendent for one year, then returned to the classroom at Clear Creek High School for eight years. He later moved to Dilley, Texas, where he worked as high school Assistant Principal for five years and Principal for an additional year and a half. After retiring in 2007, he returned to Dilley ISD for four more years as Assistant Superintendent. In 2016, he became Pastor of First Baptist Church of Webberville, a role he held with devotion until his passing.

He was a man who loved his family deeply and greeted every person with genuine warmth and gladness. David cared for his students with the same compassion he showed his own family, treating friends like kin and offering steady support as a listener, mentor, and encourager. An adventurer at heart, he cherished camping, four-wheeling, whitewater rafting, and road trips across the United States and Mexico, often sharing those experiences with laughter and stories that his sisters would never forget.

David is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Bland and Charline Kyser; grandparents, Charlie and Evelyn Hester and Harvey and Annie Kyser; brother, Harvey Kyser; and brothers-in-law, Norman Brown and Roy Howell. He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Brown and Linda Howell; brother, Charlie and Sherrilynn Kyser; sister-in-law, Dena Kyser; nieces and nephews, Lige, Niki, Bland, Stephen, Heather, Annie, KC, Ashley, Amanda, Lane, Travis, Ben, and Jackson; loving aunts, Lee Ellis, Artis Chambers, and Martha Kyser; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
