David B. LeBrun, Jr.
December 6, 1933— March 8, 2026
Abington, MA
David B. LeBrun, Jr., of Abington, died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late David B. and Constance M. (Cornell) LeBrun.
A quiet yet remarkably intelligent man, Dave was known for his wisdom and humility. He shared a devoted marriage of 70 years with the love of his life, Dolly, whom he cherished and always sought to make happy. Together they built and nurtured a large, close-knit family that brought him endless joy. Dave maintained an active social life well into his 90s, treasuring the many friends he and Dolly made over the decades.
He took great pride in his service as a Marine during the Korean War and in his 33-year career with the City of Boston Fire Department, where he advanced from firefighter to District Chief through hard work and study. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially nightly games of Skip-Bo with Dolly, for which they kept a running score for many years. He also savored a good bourbon, watched Jeopardy every evening—answering the questions aloud and insisting on silence during the show—and lived a full life enriched by family and friendship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dolly (Ann) L. LeBrun of Abington; his daughters, Denise Gibbons and her husband Leo of Leominster, Donna Rogers and her husband David of Rockland, Diane Corwin and her husband Paul of Wareham, Deborah Mallon and her husband David of East Hampstead, NH, and Dorothea “Dot” Wheeler and her husband David of Waltham; nine grandchildren, Debbi-Ann Sebastian and her husband David, Juliann Kuja and her husband Dan, Ashley Kerwin and her husband Nick, Jennifer Banton and her husband Chris, Jessica Lussier and her husband Thom, Elizabeth “Biz” Campbell and her husband Garett, Anna Elliott and her husband Chris, Edward Gibbons and his wife Stephanie, and David Wheeler Jr.; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandchildren Brian Gibbons, Katie Clancy, Laurie Mallon, and Timothy Gibbons, as well as two great-grandchildren, and by his brothers Marshall LeBrun and Francis Edwards.
