Purcell, OK

David Arthur Roberts was born on September 12, 1948, in Long Beach, California. When he was three days old, he was adopted by Harvey and Florence (Mann) Roberts from a Catholic orphanage in Long Beach. David was raised in Norman, Oklahoma until his dad’s death at age 14. His mother remarried Bill Evans of Purcell, Oklahoma. David graduated from Purcell High School in 1966 and attended OU and Central State University. After Bill’s death, Dave and his mother continued to own and operate Bill Evans Nursing Home. Dave also enrolled in the first LPN course offered in Oklahoma City and was the first male student. He developed a passion for long-term care. However, after his mother’s passing, he sold the nursing home to the Wadley Family of Purcell. He also worked in the District Attorney’s office of Cleveland County and later formed the company Control Technology Partners. Dave returned to long-term care and became a well-respected administrator throughout Central Oklahoma. He also held the position of Regional Director of The Lakes Nursing Center, OKC, and partnered with several medical supply companies and hospices. He enjoyed life; especially his Harley, music and fishing. David enjoyed a life-long bond with his high school friends who were thicker than brothers.

David was previously married to Melinda Roberts and to that union they had three children.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gayla; daughter, Stacy White (Kyle); son, Jay Roberts (Lisa); stepson, Dustin Nottnagel (Erica); step-daughter, Kelli Taber (Mike), granddaughters, Kailey White and Ashlyn White, step-granddaughter, Julia Nottnagel; step-grandsons, Mitchell and Brody Arthur and Jaxton Nottnagel; sisters, Debbie Young (John) and Diane VanZant.

David was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Lori Ann Roberts.

The family wishes to give special recognition to CompleteOK Hospice, especially Dr. Gregg Eichman and to David’s team; Heather, Katie, Leslie, Teresa, Taylor and Emily. Also to Marilyn, Administrator, of the Meeker Nursing Center. Words cannot express the love, respect and excellent care provided by the entire staff. Honorable mention to Gene Chestnut, his favorite roommate.
