Darryl Leonard McCroskey, age 77 of Louisville, Kentucky, departed his life on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Baptist Health Louisville.
Darryl was born January 18, 1949, in Louisville Kentucky to the late Albert E. Hayden Sr. and Gladys Marie Pickett. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, coach and friend. Darryl had an unwavering passion for his family, friends, and of course, U of L sports. If you were blessed with the opportunity to meet him, you would never forget him, especially if you were on the other end of negotiations or purchases, just know this: he always wins. He was a graduate of Dupont Manual High School. He earned an associate’s degree in engineering/electrical design from the University of Louisville and started his career at General Electric and later retired from C&I Engineering.
In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Jacqueline McCroskey; 3 Brothers, 3 Sisters and 1 Grandchild.
Darryl leaves to celebrate his life his brother, Ray Pickett; daughter, Whitney McCroskey French; sons, Darryl Jr, Virgil and Jackie McCroskey; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of loving cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends.
Visitation will be 4 to 8pm on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. A celebration of Darryl's life will take place at 10am on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the funeral home, followed by entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park.
