Darron Lee Godwin

Darron Lee Godwin, 58, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Hunt Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born on July 21, 1967, in Greenville to Larry and Marsha Gilliam Godwin, Darron served his country in the U.S. Army. On March 12, 1988, he married Christy Speir. He worked as a production technician for E-Systems and Folgers Coffee and was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

From an early age, Darron’s love for sports was nurtured by his father, who coached him through his youth and school years, where he was known as a dedicated and supportive teammate. He carried that passion forward by coaching his own children and many other young athletes. Darron was remembered for his great sense of humor, his ever-present smile, and his genuine warmth. To know him was to love him, and he was a loyal and cherished friend to many.

He is survived by his wife, Christy Godwin; his mother, Marsha Godwin; his son, Beau Godwin and Erica; his brother, Jared Godwin and Cathy; his sister, Marcy Godwin Burch and Jody; his grandmother, Billie Gilliam; and his grandchildren, Jayden, Braiden, Brantlee, Brynleigh, Madeline, Carsen, Lucas, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Godwin, and his daughter, Brittany Godwin.
