Olive Hill, KY
Darrell Wayne Blevins, 71, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born on May 4, 1954, in Grayson, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen Wilson Blevins. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Darrell lived a life marked by quiet strength, steadfast faith, and deep love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Lou Carper Blevins, who passed in 2014, as well as three sisters, Anita Porter, Brenda Hargett, and Sandra Jarvis; a brother, Ronnie Blevins; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Howard and Finley Hargett. A longtime member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Darrell worked for many years as a mechanic for a trucking company in North Carolina, where his strong work ethic and mechanical skill earned him the respect of those around him. He took great pride in providing for his family through honest labor.
Above all, Darrell cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. Known for his warm smile and playful spirit, he loved to joke and laugh, filling rooms with his contagious humor. In quieter moments, he found comfort in bluegrass gospel music, a reflection of his faith and Appalachian roots.
He is survived by two sons, Chad (Barbara) Blevins of North Carolina and Michael (Tonya) Blevins of Texas; one daughter, Angela (Terry Felty) Blevins of Grayson; two sisters, Rita (Michael Newsome) Blevins of Olive Hill and Mary Howard of Sandy Hook; two brothers, John Blevins of Olive Hill and Charlie (Brenda Kiser) Blevins of Grayson; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anita Blevins of Olive Hill; two brothers-in-law, Terry Porter of North Carolina and Michael Jarvis of Morehead; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
