Howell Sr, 73, of Cassopolis, passed away on Thursday evening, March 12, 2026 at his home.He was born on September 29, 1952, in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of the late Horace Howell II and Evelyn (Ashley) Howell. Horace and Evelyn divorced and she was remarried to George Dove. George was in Darrell's life and raised him since he was 4 years old. Darrell loved his country and honorably served his country as a US Marine. On May 27, 1972, he was united in marriage to Joyce A. Rink. He was a hard man, but would give the shirt off his back for someone in need. He loved his family and his land.Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joyce Howell; their four children, Sherri (Dave) Jackson, Shannon (Tami) Howell, Darrell Jr (Jessica) Howell, and Eric (Abby) Howell; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Ethan, Emily, Darrell III, Caleb (Vaeh), Emma, Aidan, Isaac and Charlotte; three great-grandchildren, Iyana, Envy and Ashton; sister, Cindy Dove; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.Preceding him in death were his father, Horace Howell II; mother and step-father, Evelyn and George Dove; two brothers, Shane and Garry Howell; and sister, Cheryl Larson.Honoring Darrell's wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will be celebrating his life privately.Arrangements were entrusted to Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, Dowagiac.Those wishing to share a memory or leave condolences are invited to visit Darrell's personalized webpage at www.clarkch.com.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
