Darrell Don Worman

September 30, 1942 February 26, 2026

Georgetown, TX

Darrell Worman passed away on February 26, 2026, at his home after a courageous battle with ALS. Darrell was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, on September 30, 1942, to Rose and Orville Worman. He lived with his family in Keystone, South Dakota, during the time his father, Orville worked as a Carver on Mount Rushmore. When his father joined the South Dakota Highway Patrol, they eventually returned to Rapid City.

Darrell attended Rapid City High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Karen Christensen, in 1962. Darrell had a love for sports and played baseball, basketball, and football, and ran track. He was recruited by Hall of Fame Football Coach Bob Devaney to attend the University of Wyoming. Darrell received a scholarship and played football for the University of Wyoming for four years, and he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1964. During their time in Laramie, Darrell and Karen were blessed with a son Jeffrey Worman.Upon graduation, Darrell accepted a job with Dow Chemical, and they moved to Lake Jackson, Texas. In 1966 they were once again blessed with another son, Mark Worman. They spent 23 years in Lake Jackson, raised their boys, and made life-long friends. Darrell’s career with Dow spanned 33 years and three states—Texas, Missouri, and Michigan.

After retiring from Dow, Darrell accepted a position with Arizona Chemical, a subsidiary of International Paper. During his six years with Arizona Chemical, Darrell and Karen lived in Panama City and Jacksonville, Florida, where they made new friends and enjoyed the beaches.

After finally retiring, Darrell and Karen headed back to Texas and settled in Georgetown. They reunited with family and old friends, and made many new friends. They have enjoyed the community in which they live, playing golf, tennis, and gathering with their wonderful neighbors. Darrell and Karen joined Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church where they were honored to be part of the Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul, and Meals on Wheels ministries. Darrell loved the sport of hunting, and had wonderful memories of trips with his best buddies, Bob, Garry and Bill.

Darrell and Karen have been blessed with four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Darrell was able to attend some of the activities each one was involved in, and he was so proud of each one of them.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Orville Worman.
