Darrel Flyckt ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Chewelah on Mar. 17, 2026.Our beloved Darrel Ray Flyckt went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on March 13th, 2026. His loving wife of over fifty-two years was at his side as he peacefully passed to glory in the home that they had built together in Chewelah, WA. Darrel Ray Flyckt was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chewelah, WA on March 19, 1945, to Albert Leroy "Lee" Flyckt and Bonnie Lee (Tait) Flyckt.Darrel grew up on the family farm outside of Chewelah, where he worked alongside his parents and siblings milking cows, raising beef cattle and haying. He was a twelve-year senior at Jenkins High School in Chewelah, where he graduated in 1963. Following graduation, he attended Spokane Community College (SCC) and achieved an Associate of Science in Electronics in 1966.After graduating from SCC, he enlisted in the Navy from 1966 to 1970. He served multiple West Pac Tours, sailing to Japan (where he attended the World's Fair), the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Hawaii. During this time on the USS Samuel Gompers, he served as an Electronic Technician. It was during this time that friends invited him to a church service, and he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. Upon an honorable discharge, he moved back to Chewelah.In 1970, he began working for Colville Television as a TV repairman. Later, he trained as an electrician and worked for Boise Plywood in Kettle Falls, Northwest Alloys at Addy, WA, and Boise Paper in Wallula, WA. Retiring at age seventy, he and his wife, moved back to Chewelah and built their fourth and final home.Following his time in the Navy, he became a 4-H leader in the Singing Spurs 4-H Club, and it was here that he met his loving wife, Peggy Jane Perin. God blessed them with two beautiful sons, Darrel Andrew Flyckt and Darren Matthew Flyckt. Peggy was a homemaker who volunteered at school, taught Sunday School, and worked with youth her whole life. Darrel and "Peg" worked with the SALT Seeker Youth Program at Pasco First Baptist, where they served in the biblical section and regularly hosted dinners for 120 church youth and their parents. Darrel was a church Trustee in multiple places and did small construction within the church. They both enjoyed gardening and landscaping.When they returned to Chewelah, they built their new home on the property where Peggy had grown up and continued to serve the Lord at their church, Greater Grace Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Bonnie Lee Flyckt, and brother Gary Flyckt (Jo).Darrel is survived by his best friend, wife and caregiver to the end, Peggy Flyckt. He is also survived by; brother, Donald Lee Flyckt (Joyce), sister, Sherri Elaine Nevers (Mike), dear children Darrel Andrew Flyckt (Melissa) and Darren Matthew Flyckt (Kiersten), along with his five precious Flyckt grandchildren, Braedon Andrew, Holden Ryan, Soren Isaac, Samuel Arthur and Grace Anya, besides multiple nieces and nephews.Services for Mr. Darrel Ray Flyckt will begin with a visitation from 1 – 5 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Chewelah with the graveside service at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Chewelah Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Greater Grace Baptist Church, 673 Arden Hill Road, Colville, WA 99114 (lunch will be provided).
