Darnell J Bagley
September 19, 1945— March 7, 2026
Evanston, WY
Darnell J. Bagley passed away on March 7, 2026, in Evanston, Wyoming, after a courageous 16-year battle with cancer. He was born on September 19, 1945, in Afton, Wyoming, to Loraine and Geraldine (Ranzenberg) Bagley. Raised on the family ranch in Fairview, he graduated from Star Valley High School in 1964, served a mission in Western Canada, and later attended Ricks College, where he met his future wife, Linda Hamilton. They were married on May 15, 1968, in the Logan LDS Temple and shared 46 years together until her passing in 2014.
After their marriage, Darnell and Linda moved to Cheyenne, where he trained as a sheet metal worker and took pride in helping construct the Laramie County Community College. In 1979, he began a long career with the Union Pacific Railroad that brought the family to Evanston. He worked in the Green River Service Division until his retirement in 2008.
Darnell had a gift for making everyone feel welcome with his warm smile and gentle teasing. He cherished time with his family, cared deeply for his land in Star Valley, and devoted many years to serving as a Boy Scout leader.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, infant daughter Valerie, son-in-law Steve Henry, brother Vance, and both parents. He is survived by his son Colton and daughters Brenda Todd, Tammy Henry, Sheila Parton, and Julie Whitehurst, along with nine grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, and many beloved nephews and nieces.
