Darlette Florence Strand, age 87, of Waseca, passed away on March 17, 2026. Born at home in rural Waseca on March 25, 1938, to John and Florence (Prechel) Leslie, she began her education in a one-room schoolhouse before graduating with honors from Waseca Central High School in 1956. She worked at Herter’s, Farmers National Bank, Round Bank, and retired from Truth Hardware in 2001. Darlette found joy in flowers, bowling, camping, gardening, playing games, and reading. She was also deeply involved in the life of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she participated in Cotta Guild, quilting, and many other activities.

She is survived by her children, Darnell (Robert) Anhorn and Lynnette (Jayson) Shaw; four stepchildren, Jerry Strand, Melissa (Matt) Wappel, Andrew (Stacy) Strand, and Alan (Julia) Strand; daughter-in-law Brenda Kreuger; brother-in-law Jim Kreuger; six grandchildren, Kevin (Amanda) Kreuger, Kristin (Zach) Loff, Kyle (Jordyn) Kreuger, Brad Slowinski, Brayden Shaw, and Jaylynn Shaw; six great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

Darlette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marlyn “Merly” Strand, her son Rick Kreuger, and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura and Roy Schultz, and Ivadell “Ivy” and Roger Schwichtenberg.
