She was predeceased by: her husband Kenneth Leslie Barkema; her parents, Murrel Milford and Lorene Milford; her siblings, Norma, Gilbert and Jim; her son-in-law Dan Allen; and her granddaughter Serenity Allen.

She is survived by: her children, George Barkema (Lisa), Debbie Allen and David Barkema (Gina); and her sister Elaine Thomas. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Hope Church (202 S Creyts Rd, Lansing, MI 48917). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery (2600 E Mt Hope Ave, Lansing, MI 48910).
