Daphne Denise Cox Combs was born on November 6, 1963, in Tachikawa, Japan, to Hugh and Ruth Teague Cox. She passed away on March 6, 2026, at West Tennessee Medical Center in Paris, Tennessee.
Daphne accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member of Progressive Baptist Church. She graduated from Henry County High School in 1982 and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin for two years, where she was a proud little sister to the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Known for her bright smile and spark-filled personality, Daphne married the love of her life, George Combs, on September 21, 1990. Together they shared a loving marriage that spanned more than 35 years. She worked for the Walmart Company for over 44 years and also spent time employed by Hardee’s. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Candy Crush and cherishing moments with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Daphne was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Cox and Ruth Yvonne Teague Cox, her brother Duane Cox, her nephew Kyle Jones, and her niece Lin-Cee Byars. She leaves behind her devoted husband, George Combs, Jr., her children Khadijah Combs (Alec Jones) and Chad Cox (Amanda), her sister Jocelyn Clarisse Cox-Jones, her brother Chad Andre’ Cox (Amanda), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren Emilee Combs and Aiden Jones, in-laws, and a wide circle of lifelong friends who will carry her memory in their hearts. She was a trusted mother figure to Jamario White (Makeisha), Brooke Powell, and many others throughout her life.
