Danny Wayne Lee Sr.

1938 — 2026

Indianapolis, IN

Danny Wayne Lee, Sr., of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on March 13, 2026. Born on October 19, 1938, in Indianapolis to the late Avery and Marian Lee, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Allen, on September 14, 1957. Together they found their greatest joy in raising their five children.

A faithful servant of God from a young age, Danny lived a life deeply rooted in his beliefs, with faithfulness shaping every part of his family. Blessed with a beautiful voice, he was often invited to sing at events, honoring the Lord through praise and worship. He proudly served his country in the National Guard and was a longtime member of the Teamsters. For many years he worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, known as a hardworking and dependable provider who always placed his family first. After retiring, he followed another passion by earning his auctioneer’s license and working alongside Jeff Rich Auctioneer in Cloverdale, Indiana.

Danny cherished horses and happily shared that love with his children and grandchildren, teaching them to care for and ride. He enjoyed trail rides, taking his grandkids to 4-H events, and supporting his grandsons at ropings and rodeos. Above all, he was an amazing grandfather who took great pride in his twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his children Carla Lee (Toni), Danny W. Lee, Jr., and Julie Peterson (Brent); grandchildren Lindsay, Terah, Hollie, Kyle, Trevor, Heather, Jennifer, Kayla, Clay, Jace, Samuel, and Lucas; great-grandchildren Koy, Broc, Robert, Elijah, Kaelyn, Gavin, Ian, Beau, and Colter; great-great-granddaughter Presley; brother Larry Lee; and brother-in-law Robert (Bobby) Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Allen Lee, daughter Tonya Elliott, son Jeffery Lee, brothers Richard (Dick) Lee, Howard Lee, Cecil Haworth, Thomas Lee, and William (Bill) Lee, and sisters Dorothy Spurgeon, Doris (Dolly) Tutts, Leona Sue Kelley, and Sharon Campbell.
