March 26, 1943— March 10, 2026
Steelville, MO
Danny “Dan” Lee Earney, age 82, of Wesco, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on March 10, 2026. Born on March 26, 1943, in Wesco to Marion “Bill” Franklin Earney and Minnielee Gibbs Earney, Dan was raised with the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness that guided him throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Billy Dan Earney, and his brother-in-law Bill Moreland. Dan is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 63 years, Katherine “Kathie” Roberta Henson Earney, whom he married on October 11, 1963, in Cook Station, Missouri. Kathie was the center of his world, and he cherished every day they shared together.
Dan took great pride in his family. He is remembered fondly by his grandchildren Sara (Mike) Zacher of Eureka, Casi (Corey) Herrell and Michael Dan (Alisha) Earney of Steelville, and his eight great-grandchildren: Brody, Logan, Lexi, Wyatt, Cameron, Cash, Elaina, and Gabriel Dan. He is also survived by his sister, Iris Moreland of Wesco.
Dan dedicated 33 years to Steelville Telephone as Outside Plant Foreman, retiring in 1996. He found joy in riding his Harley, gigging, hunting, restoring old Farmall tractors, and collecting vintage cars and trucks. A loyal fan of NASCAR, the St. Louis Cardinals, and classic John Wayne Westerns, he was a proud member of the Steelville Country Club and the local Coon Hunters Association. Above all, Dan treasured his role as grandpa and great-grandpa, finding his greatest happiness in the laughter and love of his family.
