Danny Gene Glover

1945 — 2026

Owensboro, KY

Danny Gene Glover, 80, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on September 1, 1945, to the late Melvin Glover Jr. and Dorothy (Roach) Houtchen, Danny lived a life marked by quiet competence, curiosity, and deep affection for the people and places he cherished.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a “Jack-in-the-Dust” aboard the USS Cochran from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked for 21 years as a member of Laborers’ Local Union #1393 before retiring. Danny was a man who seemed to know a little about everything and never met a stranger. He held a profound love for the outdoors, particularly deer hunting, bird hunting, bird watching, and ginseng hunting. He faithfully fed the birds and squirrels around his home, found joy in visiting Waymond Morris Park to see his beloved crane, and was well versed in Indian artifacts, gardening, cooking, and lively political debate.

Above all, Danny loved fishing. Widely regarded as one of the best anglers around, he possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the sport and was the person many sought out for skipjack bait ahead of tournaments. He loved his family deeply and took special pride in his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his world.

Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Glover; his infant Siamese twin sisters, Connie and Bonnie Glover; his stepdaughter, Tina Dozer; and his stepson, Danny Vick. He is survived by his sons, Robert Glover and Gerald Glover; his daughter, Cheryl Glover (Kevin Goins); his stepson, Richard Harper; and his stepdaughters, Regina Mitchell and Carmen Gilbert. He also leaves behind his brother, Michael (Stephanie) Houtchen, along with many grandchildren—Emma Taylor (Bruce), Zachary Glover, Colbi Glover, Courtney Glover, Michelle Glover, Lucas and Trevas Mitchell, Kasey and Tyler Harper, Ian Dozer, Keleigh and Hannah, Ricky Harper, T.J. Boone, and Danielle Nesmith—and several nieces and nephews. His stories, laughter, and enduring love for the outdoors will remain with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
