Daniel Ray Neitzel

Daniel Ray Neitzel, age 82, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on March 5, 2026. He was born on March 14, 1943, in Gary, Indiana, to Arthur and Lorene (née Roberts) Neitzel.

After earning his degree from Purdue University, Daniel proudly served in the United States Army. He went on to enjoy a long career as a design engineer at Caterpillar Tractor Company, where he dedicated thirty years of service before retiring. In 1979, he moved to Elgin, where he became a valued member of the community and lived for the rest of his life.

Daniel shared fifty loving years of marriage with his devoted wife, Gloria. He was a proud and caring father to his daughters, Nicole and Mandy. He found great joy in spending time on his boat and fishing. A man of deep faith, he was an active member of St. Thomas More Church in Elgin, where he faithfully served for many years as head usher.

Daniel will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his family, his strong faith, and the kindness he showed to everyone around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lorene Neitzel, his brother Robert Neitzel, and his sister Pam Neitzel. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Neitzel; daughters, Nicole (Chad) Deitz and Mandy Neitzel; and brother, Brian Neitzel.
