Daniel “Danny” Pugsley, 85, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born on the family farm in Middletown on January 9, 1941, to Roscoe and Pearl (Jose) Smith, Danny spent his entire life working the land he loved. He farmed and milked cows on the family farm and, together with his wife Carolyn, owned and operated Pugsley’s Family Inn in Middletown.
Danny found his greatest joy in simple pleasures. He loved taking his dogs out on the boat, riding with them around the farm on the gator, sharing picnics with family and friends, and making ice cream on warm summer evenings. His steady presence, quiet humor, and deep affection for his family and animals left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Geneva (Brad) Stewart, Treva Pugsley, Danny Ray (Jill) Pugsley, Dennis Pugsley, and Joe (Cari) Pugsley; grandchildren, Bradley (Kristin) Stewart, Jennifer (Patrick) Stewart, Jai Cave, Cara Cave, Eva (Nick) Faurote, Leif (Hannah) Cave, Melissa (Kyle) Redding, Jack (Jon Koch) Pugsley, Dillon (Haley) Pugsley, Sam (Makayla) Pugsley, Dallas Pugsley, and Danielle Pugsley; great-grandchildren, Sidney, Avery, Rhett, Daxton, Braxton, Dalary, Daleyza, Daleah, Banx, Ila, Ozli, Blake, Wendell, Landon, Mason, Rosco, Eugene, Gilbert, Ray, Sophia, Jackson, Waylin, and Weston; brother, Larry (Patty) Smith; sister, Diana (Don) Mosier; lifelong friends, Phyllis and Neal Graham and Dave Miller; special niece, Robin Krathwohl; bonus granddaughter, Shelby; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and several siblings.
