Daniel Murphy, 74, of Monroeville, passed away on March 9, 2026, at UH Medical Center in Cleveland after a brief illness. Born on December 20, 1951, in Sandusky to the late Wallace and Rita (Dugan) Murphy, Dan graduated from Margaretta High School and earned an associate’s degree from BGSU Firelands College. He worked as a driver for a wine distributor and OE Meyer Co. before retiring from Wilbert Plastics in Bellevue, where he served as a quality insurance technician.
Music was the great passion of Dan’s life. He loved playing guitar and piano, sharing his voice with audiences through performances with several bands and in many solo appearances over the years. He also found quiet joy in reading, writing poetry, and spending meaningful time with the family and friends he held so dear.
Dan is survived by his sons, Michael Murphy and Adam Murphy; his grandchild, Babe Murphy-Blue; his sisters, Michelle “Mickey” (Glenn) Holzhauser and Nora (Mark) Kaufman; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Woell) Murphy, in 2010, as well as his sister Maureen Bluhm and brother-in-law Glenn Bluhm.
