Daniel "Danny" Mark Ball

Ovid, MI

Daniel “Danny” Mark Ball, 65, of Ovid, Michigan, passed away at his home on March 11, 2026, with his wife Kristin and beloved dog Toby by his side.

Born in Jackson, Michigan, on January 11, 1961, Danny was the son of Dennis Hubert Ball and Dolores Jean (Payne) McCabe. He graduated from Holt High School in 1979. On September 23, 1989, he married the love of his life, Kristin (Bennett) Ball, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Lansing. Together they spent more than 36 years building a home and family, sharing a quiet joy in golfing, camping, antique festivals, flea markets, and traveling to Colorado and Florida to visit loved ones.

Danny worked in paint repair for General Motors for over 25 years and served as a committee man for UAW Local 602. He was an avid golfer who organized and played in his union golf league for nearly three decades. A gifted craftsman, he built the family home in 1994 and filled it with thoughtful projects for those he loved. Family and friends knew they mattered to Danny when he built their deck, tiled their bathroom, or laid their hardwood floors. He was always the first to show up when someone needed help.

He passed on his love of the outdoors to his sons, sharing many autumn days duck hunting at Maple River and Shiawassee River State Game Areas and deer hunting with family and friends. He built a skeet thrower in the back field where they spent countless hours shooting together. A proud father and grandfather, Danny cherished every moment with his sons and granddaughters.

Danny entered the Catholic faith in 1997 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns. He is survived by his loving wife Kristin; sons David Ball and Dennis (Kandice) Ball; granddaughters Eloise and Emma Ball; siblings BJ (Jerry) Lynch, Jodi Surline, and Mary Harwood; sisters- and brothers-in-law Amy (Joe) Rice, Brenda (John) Saenz, and Kevin Bennett; mother-in-law Jean Bennett; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dennis Ball and stepmother Barbara Ball, mother Dolores McCabe and stepfather Grant McCabe, and brother Kevin Ball.
