Daniel Cottrill ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Moreland Funeral Home - Westerville on Mar. 10, 2026.Daniel Kenneth Cottrill, age 78, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026 at home in Westerville, Ohio, surrounded by family after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease.Dan was born in East Cleveland, Ohio, July 8, 1947, second of four sons, to Kenneth Claire Cottrill and Edith Marie Frank Cottrill. He grew up on a farm in Delaware, Ohio, where he and his brothers helped their dad with the farm work. After graduating from Olentangy High School in 1965, he briefly attended Ohio State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War.He married Linda Frederick on May 18, 1974. He had his own construction company for several years, and when their first child was on the way, he designed and built a house in Westerville where they settled to raise their family. He was a great "do-it-yourselfer" who figured out how to fix many things himself. He later went to work for ServPro for many years until retirement. He enjoyed playing golf with the senior league in Westerville, and with friends every chance he got.Dan is survived by his wife Linda, sons Benjamin (Elizabeth), and Matthew, two grandchildren, Ila and Wyatt; brothers Roy (Kitty), Richard (Debra), and Gene, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Edith Marie, and sister-in-law Debbie (Gene's wife).Calling hours will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 11, at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio 43081.A brief church service will be held Thursday, 10:00 AM down the road from where Dan grew up, at West Berlin Presbyterian Church, 2911 Berlin Station Road, Delaware, Ohio led by Reverend Robert Gustafson. Interment will follow the church service at West Berlin Township Cheshire Road Cemetery, 3271 Cheshire Road, Delaware, Ohio.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dan to www.Ohio sHospice.org/Foundation.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
