Daniel James Caldwell, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 9, 2026, one day before his 73rd birthday.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a plank owner aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeri Caldwell; their children, James Caldwell and Lindsay (Brad) Baden; and grandchildren Preston and Fischer Baden. He is also survived by his siblings Peggy (Patrick) Dennen, Stephen (Brenda) Caldwell, Robert (Katherina Pena) Caldwell, Catherine (Greg) Boyd, brother-in-law Kieth Volk, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Helen E. Caldwell.
A lifelong Michigan fan, Dan could often be found watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. He held a deep love for animals and welcomed numerous rescue cats and dogs into his heart and home over the years. He will be remembered for his loyalty, quiet strength, and his remarkable memory for details from travels, experiences, and favorite meals.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward the legacy of his steadfast presence and gentle spirit.
