Daniel Hackett

Daniel Hackett, known affectionately as “Uncle Danny,” of Belmont, North Carolina, and formerly of Huntington, New York, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 64, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born on May 14, 1961, in Huntington, New York, to the late Francis X. Hackett and Mary Smith Hackett, Danny was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Francis X. Hackett, Jr. He served in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1986. A true lover of the outdoors, he cherished Appalachian football games, camping, and evenings gathered around a fire pit. He found joy in listening to folk music, attending music festivals, and celebrating traditional Irish music. A skilled tradesman, Danny spent much of his free time helping family and friends with projects. He had a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty and often shared photographs of magnificent sunsets with his family. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and uncle.

Danny is survived by his sister-in-law Nancy Hackett, brother Michael Hackett and his wife Sandy, sisters Mary Ann Giannuzzi and her husband Joseph, Patricia Lehecka, Virginia Suttle and her husband Ralph, Jane Olver and her husband William, Kathleen McEwan and her husband Craig, brother Brian Hackett and his wife Jeanne, Scott Gillies and his wife Ellen, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
