Preserve forever →Daniel "Danny" Gray
Huntington Beach, CA
Daniel “Danny” Gray, 71, of Huntington Beach, California, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born on January 17, 1955, in Torrance, California, to the late Curtis Newell Gray and Jean Grace (Kildea) Gray, Danny graduated from Marina High School and attended Golden West College before finding his calling in the crane industry. For more than twenty-five years he worked as a crane oiler, earning respect for his skill, reliability, and deep knowledge of large, heavy-duty equipment. He was a valued partner to the operators he supported throughout his career.
A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Danny cheered for the Anaheim Angels and followed the Houston Astros with equal enthusiasm. He played in recreational leagues in his youth and later took quiet pride in watching his grandson, Reese, compete in baseball, soccer, and football. Danny also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles in pen, a testament to his sharp mind, and cherished cross-country road trips with his brother Steve that took them to ballparks across the country.
He found his greatest peace on the water, living aboard the 128-foot yacht Aussie Gal, where he worked alongside his father running charter trips and assisting with movie production rentals. Danny will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the game, and the many quiet moments of laughter and adventure he shared with those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Joshua Fortenberry; his sister, Gaye Murray (Larry); his brother, Steven Macom (Donna); his grandson, Reese; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
