June 21, 1950— March 6, 2026
Saco, ME
Daniel “Redd” Girouard, age 75, of Saco, died peacefully in his sleep on March 6, 2026.
Son of the late Donald and Gloria (Kilby) Girouard of Lewiston, Dan grew up attending schools in Lewiston. At fifteen he began taking drumming lessons from his friend Bob Ely, and by eighteen he was living in Boston, playing with the band Universal Underpass, then known as Games. The 1960s proved an exciting chapter for him as he met and performed with many notable musicians. A longtime member of the Maine Blues Society, Dan remained a vital part of the Lewiston/Auburn music scene, supporting local venues across the region from the 1960s onward throughout his life and career.
He touched many lives through his music and his presence, leaving an impression that was uniquely his own. Dan was predeceased by his parents, his special grandmother Edith MacDonald, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his brother Bill, his daughters Bonnie Girouard and Jennifer Mead, his grandchildren Max and Sarah, and his former spouse Jeannette Girouard.
