Danette Oydegaard ObituaryPublished by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2026.Danette Lavone Harris Oydegaard, affectionately known as Dannie, passed at age 67 in her home on January 28, 2026. She was born on July 14, 1958, in Turlock, California to Monty and Carmen Harris. Danette lived a vibrant life rooted in faith, family, history, community, and the arts. Danette was a proud graduate of Turlock High School and CSU Stanislaus, later earning her teaching credential. Danette dedicated over 30 years of her career to teaching. She was a lifelong educator from Julene Elementary in Turlock CA to Curtis Creek Elementary in Sonora CA. She spent 13 years as a facilitator and trainer for Yosemite Environmental Living Program, was an education day coordinator for Columbia Diggins, a Living History docent at Wawona in Yosemite National Park as well as a docent at Columbia State Historic Park. As if this wasn't enough, she founded and taught a girls academy and co-owned and operated two businesses in Columbia State Historic Park.Her work ethic, dedication, and passion for whatever she set her mind to was evident in anything she touched. Danette shared 21 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband (late) Floyd Oydegaard and was a devoted mother to her two sons, Timothy Dickinson and Christopher Oydegaard. She was a proud grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Known for her determination, generous spirit, and steadfast faith, Danette lived life abounding in love. She found joy in the simple pleasures of sewing, crafting, coffee dates with friends, trips to Basspro with her son or simply just enjoying the outdoors.Danette leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faithfulness and friendship. She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, and a passionate and dedicated woman who always managed to inspire with a touch of creativity, a zest for learning and a lot of heart.
