Dale Groh passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Groh; his mother, Janet Groh; and his children: Heather Groh and her special friend Cleveland Freeman, Joseph Groh and his significant other Calli Walters, and Crimson Beeck and Klaus. He is also survived by his step-children: Carlton Case and Ali, Catherine LeSage and Adam, and Charissa Saint Thomas and Justin. Dale leaves behind his siblings, David Groh and Karen Caperell and Melvin, as well as six grandchildren: Island, Faron, Menorah, Carlton IV, Nazareth, and Lucian. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Groh, and his brother, Dennis.
A man of deep faith, Dale loved the Lord and lived with quiet conviction. Patient with his words yet generous with hugs, compliments, and quick-witted humor, he carried a gentle strength that drew others to him. As a young man he served in the Marines, earning the Marine Rifle Sharpshooter Medal and traveling the world, though his heart always belonged to the woods of Wisconsin. There he found lifelong joy in hunting, fishing, boating, and simply being in nature, a passion made plain by the wall of trophy bucks that reflected years spent outdoors.
For more than 40 years Dale worked at the Post Office, yet his true fulfillment came from family. He cherished his role as father and grandfather above all else, filling their days with games of badminton, horseshoes, and cards. He doted on his grandchildren, paddling with them to catch frogs, ensuring ice cream was always waiting, and proudly claiming the title of “best grandpa.” Each Halloween he transformed the trailer with hay bales, lights, and music to drive the family through the countryside, and at Christmas he took special delight in handing out gifts—especially when he drew someone’s name, for everyone knew he had close connections with Santa Claus. Grilling for the family, taking his children to the zoo, and riding the four-wheeler with his grandchildren across the farm were the moments that made his life feel magical.
It is with the greatest sorrow that his family says goodbye far too soon. Dale’s kindness and love brightened every life he touched, and though the world feels dimmer without him, his memory remains a steady source of light. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the family farm, his favorite place.
