Grand Island, NE
Dale Franklin “Gunner” Moul, 93, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on February 24, 1933, in Fairmont, Nebraska, to Lew B. and Ninette (McCashland) Moul, he grew up near Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1951. In 1953 he joined the Navy, serving with pride aboard the destroyer USS Chandler as a “Tin Can” sailor until his honorable discharge in 1957.
He married Lenora Taylor on September 7, 1958, in Fairmont. The couple made their home on the family farm near Fairmont, where they raised their family. In 2003 they retired and moved to Wood River. After Nora’s death in 2009, Dale moved to Grand Island. A lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion, he found joy in hunting, spending time outdoors, and above all, his deep passion for firearms, which made him a familiar face at local gun shops.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Darcy and Darcy Moul, and their children Benson (Jacie) Moul and Lauren (Tyler) Valasek, along with great-grandchildren Tyson, Kennedy, Quinn, and Maysen; his daughter Michelle (Brian) Zimmerli and her children Trapper Bryson and Sawyer Bryson, together with great-granddaughters Daphne and Lenora; his daughter Melanie (Randy) Ehmen and her children Blake (Joelle) Ehmen and Brianne (Ryan) Kelly, along with great-grandchildren Ryder, Aleigha, and Masen; his daughter Alison Bruha and her children Sean Shaffer, Dean Shaffer, and Ashley (Andrew) Marquez, together with great-grandchildren Joey, Olivia, and Julian; his sister Betty (Larry) Ackland; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lenora, his brother Don, his son-in-law Kent Bruha, his grandson Colt Bryson, and his great-granddaughter Emersyn Kelly.
