Dale Wood ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Buresh Funeral Home - Hale on Mar. 10, 2026.Dale Edward Wood, a lifelong resident of National City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Tawas Village Assisted Living, at the age of 84. Dale was born in Tawas City, Michigan on October 9, 1941 to Clyde and Margaret (Sokola) Wood. He graduated from Whittemore Prescott High School with the Class of 1959 and following school he entered the workforce as a carpenter in the construction field. Dale worked for himself for 10 years before he began his employment with Forest Construction. He spent the next 20+ years with the company as a skilled carpenter. Following his time with Forest Construction, he went on to work at US Gypsum for ten years before his retirement.On June 15, 1963, Dale married the love of his life, Donna (Freel) Wood, at the Alabaster Bible Church. The two spent the next 44 years together sharing amazing memories and taking on life together before Donna's passing in 2007. Dale and Donna did absolutely everything together, and she was his world. Together they raised a beautiful family and lived a spectacular life.Being a true outdoorsman, Dale enjoyed many activities such as hunting, fishing, target and trap shooting, reloading his own shells, and running the chainsaws while cutting wood. He was a long time member of the Iosco County Sportsman's Association as well. Above all, Dale absolutely loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, participating in all of the fun adventures and memorable moments close families create! Dale's easy going demeanor and gentle but rugged spirit will remain forever in the hearts of his close family and friends who were blessed to have been a big part of his life.Dale is survived by his 2 loving children, daughter, Kim (Steve) Blust and son, Mike Wood; 2 grandchildren, Justin Blust (Melissa LaVigne) and Megan Wood; one great grandson, Emmitt Blust; and several nieces and nephews. Dale is preceded in death by his beautiful beloved wife of 44 years, Donna (Freel) Wood; his parents, Clyde and Margaret Wood; and his brother, Roger Wood.Services for Dale will be held at the Hale Baptist Church in Hale, Michigan, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place leading up to the service from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon held following the service at Eagle Point Plaza in Hale, Michigan. Dale will be laid to rest next to his wife Donna in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Tawas City, Michigan, in the spring. Any memorial contributions may be directed towards the family.
