Born on January 3, 1930, in New York City, his departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of warmth, intelligence, and friendliness that touched many.Cyril is survived by his wife Bernice "Bonni" Gsell, daughter Wendy Gsell, step-son Kurt Krehbiel, step-daughter Karen Keasler, her husband Andy Keasler and grandchildren Karl, Rands, and Alex Keasler. His family will miss him dearly.Cyril's life was one marked by dedication and love – a love for his family, his work, and his country. He married his first love, Heather Young, in 1954, and together they brought two children into the world, Wendy Anne and C. Charles Jr. Both Heather and Charlie predeceased Cyril. In 1994, Cyril was fortunate to find love once again and married longtime friend, Bonni Boice, with whom he shared many happy years. Cyril was a proud alumnus of Dartmouth College, where he completed his BA degree in 1952. His professional career began at R. Gsell & Co., a manufacturer and importer of watches, where he served as an executive from 1954 until 1986. His career continued with tenures at Elgin National Industries and Bulova Watch Co., from where he retired in 2002.A veteran of the United States Navy, Cyril served from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War, retiring as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. His service was a point of pride and spoke to his sense of duty and love for his country. He was a member of notable clubs including the Westchester Country Club, the Dartmouth Club of New York, the New York Athletic Club, and the Twenty-Four Karat Club of New York City. An avid skier, Cyril enjoyed the slopes of New England, Colorado, and Switzerland. His travels, both for business and pleasure, took him across Europe, Hong Kong, and the United States, enriching his life with experiences and friendships. He was a devoted NY Giants fan, an avid reader, and passionate golfer.His wishes were for a private memorial.
