Vancleave, MS
Cynthia Tangney Morgan, 78, of Vancleave, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. Born on July 9, 1947, in Coushatta, Louisiana, she devoted more than 45 years to a distinguished career in nursing. After graduating from the LPN program at Jefferson Davis Junior College in 1966 and completing her Registered Nurse training there in 1970, Cynthia began her career in Labor and Delivery at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. She later worked in the Emergency Room at Howard Memorial Hospital, collaborated closely with the local ambulance service, and taught EMT classes at Jefferson Davis Junior College for several years. She also helped write the grant that established the Paramedic Program at the college and served for many years in the RN On-Call program with Amserv Ambulance. In the later part of her career, she and her husband traveled as nurses before she retired in 2018.
Beyond her professional life, Cynthia found deep satisfaction in tending her flowers and garden, creating handmade jewelry for loved ones, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren, who brought her the greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin “Ron” Morgan; her children, Ronald P. Morgan (Kathy) and Lisa Chamberlain (Jake); her grandchildren, Stefanie Morgan, Samantha (Jeremy) McGowan, Isabelle Chamberlain, and Morgan Chamberlain; and her great-grandchildren, Cade McGowan, Connor McGowan, and Stetson Chamberlain. She is also survived by her sister, Gwen Holden, and her nieces and nephews, Frank Simmons (Audie), Jake Simmons, and Julie Simmons.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregivers, Jo Waltman, Larissa Boyce, and Tessie Godwin, for the compassionate care she received over the past three years, and especially to little Maggie Boyce, affectionately known as “Punky,” whose presence brought a smile to her face each day. Cynthia will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her unwavering dedication to helping others, and the quiet, steadfast love she shared with her family and friends.
