Cynthia Powell

Cynthia Powell, known lovingly as Cindy, passed away on March 11, 2026, at her home in Mansfield, Ohio, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 20, 1952, she lived nearly her entire life in Mansfield, graduating from Madison High School with the Class of 1970. Before devoting herself to motherhood and homemaking, she worked at Ideal Electric, where she formed many lasting friendships.

For more than sixty years, Cindy was a devoted member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and vacation Bible school and served on staff. She also found joy in volunteering at 4-H camp and working at the polls for the Richland County Board of Elections on election days. She and her husband, Dennis W. Powell, shared 37 loving years together with their daughters at Chestnut Hill Farm until his passing in 2013.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, David and Sarah (Hagy) Edgerton, her in-laws D. Wayne and Margaret Powell, and her brother-in-law Bob Elcess. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Heath) Hershner and Leslie (Matt) Garnsey; her granddaughters, Sadie and Haylee Hershner; her sister, Michelle Egan; her brother, Scott (Chrissy) Hagy; her sister-in-law, Sheila Elcess; and her brothers-in-law, Greg Powell and David (Sheree) Powell.
