Cynthia L. "Cyndi" Hartwig

Cynthia L. "Cyndi" Hartwig

August 6, 1953 March 13, 2026

North Hills, PA

Cynthia L. Hartwig, affectionately known as Cyndi, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on August 6, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Clara and Wm. Lester Grupp. Cyndi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She married her devoted husband, Thomas Hartwig, on December 31, 1987. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with love and laughter, and together they created a warm and welcoming home where family and friends were always cherished.

Cyndi is survived by her children, Adam (Jen) and Megan (Michael), and her granddaughters, Maelynne and Ellie, who brought her immeasurable joy. She embraced her role as “Mimi” with her whole heart, creating special routines, cherished memories, and little bits of magic for her girls. She was always first in the school pickup line, turning even ordinary moments into something memorable. She is also remembered by her siblings and many beloved grand dogs. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Rich Grupp, her sisters, Eleanor Cyphers, Joanne Chizmar, and Marge Draskovich, as well as her mother-in-law, Bertha B. Hartwig, and father-in-law, Leo W. Hartwig.

Devoted to her Catholic faith, Cyndi served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at the 5PM Saturday Vigil Mass at Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church. She found great pleasure in birdwatching and tending her flower garden each year. Above all, her greatest joy was her children, their spouses, and her granddaughters. Cyndi had a remarkable eye for the little things—whether it was a thoughtful “just because” gift, a favorite treat, or pointing out the simple beauty of a bird at the window. She turned ordinary moments into something special, finding delight in crashing ocean waves, a perfect weather day, a beautiful sunrise or sunset, or an unplanned Sunday drive. The memories she created in these quiet, beautiful ways will remain with her family forever.
