Cynthia "Cindy" Faye Cavinder, 74, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Northwest Health-La Porte, under the care of VNA Hospice Center of Valparaiso.Cindy was born on July 4, 1951, in La Porte, IN, to Mirwood and Dorothy (Chadderdon) Francis.On November 2, 1968, in La Porte, IN, she married Chester Cavinder, who proceeded her in death on January 19, 2021. Cindy and Chester enjoyed 52 years of marriage.Surviving Cindy are her 3 daughters, Sunshine (Jerry) Bell of La Porte, Dawna Cavinder of La Porte La Porte, and Autumn (Tim) Dolson of Pendleton; 3 grandchildren, Jacob Clark, Gillyanne Clark and Margaret Bell; as well as many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Robert Francis, Dennis Francis, David Francis, DeWayne "Moose" Francis, Carol Francis, Marlene Nuebeck, and Roberta Edwards.Cindy worked many years as a cook, both at Western Inn and Ruth's Restaurant. She enjoyed playing computer games and occasionally visiting the casino. Cindy was an avid reader. Most importantly, Cindy loved spending time with her family. She unselfishly donated to those in need.Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service and burial at Pine Lake Cemetery will take place at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Cindy to the VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.Condolences may be shared online at www.cutlercares.com.
