Cynthia Dee House

1944 — 2026

Buchanan, MI

Cynthia Dee House, known lovingly as Cyndee, passed away on March 13, 2026, at her home in Buchanan. She was a kind and devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family. Cyndee embraced her role wholeheartedly, coaching her children’s sports teams, attending every game, and involving herself in every aspect of their lives. Though gentle and sweet by nature, she possessed a formidable scowl that could swiftly restore order and a playful giggle that lit up any room.

Even in her later years when she was mostly homebound, Cyndee remained full of adventure. She cherished visits with her daughter, trips to the family trailer in Irons, and travels to new places with the Leiter Ladies. She loved gathering at the kitchen table to play cards with her girls, tending to her flowers and garden, and spending quiet time in nature watching birds. Throughout her life she was rarely without a beloved pet by her side.

Cyndee is survived by her husband of 63 years, John House; daughters Tracie (Donny Espick) House and Wanda (Tim) Schnapp; son-in-law Jay Whitaker; granddaughter Ember House, all of Buchanan; and sisters Dale (Phil) Weldy and Shelley (Tom) Hubbell. She was the beloved aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Evelyn Leiter, her brother Bruce Leiter, and her beloved daughter Kelli Whitaker.
