CW4 (Ret) Harold “Hogan” Donald McVey, Jr., 83, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, while at Columbus Hospice House, Columbus, GA with his wife by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 PM (EST) on Friday, March 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Pastor Chris Toole officiating. Inurnment will be at 10:00 AM (EST) on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with U. S. Army Honors. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM (EST) until the funeral hour on Friday at the funeral home.
CW4 (Ret) McVey was born February 18, 1943, in Lynwood, CA, son of the late Harold D. McVey, Sr. and Lillian Pearl Seiber McVey.
CW4 (Ret) McVey, known affectionately as Hogan, was a proud patriot who served his country with distinction in the U.S. Marines, Air Force Reserves, and later retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a fighter pilot. His military career was marked by dedication and sacrifice, and he earned the respect of his peers and subordinates alike.
Throughout his life he remained committed to service, leadership, and community. Mr. McVey was a Commander with the Philippine Coast Guard, was part of the Rotary Club of East Davao and earned a 5th Dan black belt in martial arts. He also worked for Blue Sky Airways in the Philippines who assisted the Asian Spirit airlines. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and spending time on the golf course.
Survivors include his wife, Lileth Norca McVey, Phenix City, AL; three sons, Thomas, Timmy and Joseph “Shawn” McVey; one sister, Christine Middleton; several grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Hogan's legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the values he instilled in those around him. His dedication to family, service, and community will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
