Curtis VanDuzer ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (26th St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Mar. 10, 2026.Curtis Pearson VanDuzer, known affectionately to friends and family as Curtis, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, due to an intracranial hemorrhage. Born on June 28, 1943, in Rochester, New York, Curtis's journey through life was one marked by kindness, generosity, and a profound wisdom that touched the hearts of all who knew him. Curtis earned a Bachelor's Degree and went on to become a respected engineer, channeling his innovative spirit into a successful self-employment career that spanned many fruitful years. However, his professional accomplishments paled in comparison to the work he did as a friend of Bill W. Curtis poured his soul into helping others within the program, guiding many to lead better lives. This, he believed, was his true purpose and mission-a testament to the depth of his spirit and the breadth of his compassion. Spirituality was the cornerstone of Curtis's life. He navigated his earthly journey with a deep sense of connection to something greater, a connection that transcended the confines of traditional religion and touched the essence of the divine. This spiritual outlook was reflected in his love for nature, often found sitting outdoors with his favorite cat, Chelsea, basking in the tranquility of his surroundings. A man of diverse interests, Curtis relished the simple joys of traveling with his life partner, Mary Oberdier, savoring meals out, and indulging in the pleasures of reading. His laughter was a common sound during their shared moments watching animal videos on YouTube and Gunsmoke. An avid enthusiast of the stock market, Curtis approached it with the same keen insight and calm demeanor that he applied to all aspects of his life. Curtis's generosity knew no bounds, his kindness was a beacon of light, and his wisdom a guiding force. In the words of the great Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived-this is to have succeeded." Curtis indeed succeeded, for he left an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of his loving cousin Elaine Russo, her son Jason Russo and his family, his cherished Serenity Room family, and the multitude of friends who had the privilege of sharing in his journey. Curtis Pearson VanDuzer's legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. His spirit, now free from the constraints of the physical world, remains an eternal source of love and wisdom. We take solace in the memories he has left behind, a tapestry woven with the threads of his generous, kind, and wise nature. Curtis's life was a gift to us all, and his memory will forever be a blessing. In lieu of flowers please consider making a Donation in Curtis's name to DART, Duette Animal Rescue Team.A Celebration of Life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the fellowship hall of St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 63rd Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34207.Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida, is in charge of arrangements. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
