Craig Ashley Hayes
December 11, 1952— March 5, 2026
Calgary, AB
Craig Ashley Hayes was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and moved with his family to Calgary at just two months old. He grew up in Haysboro, where he shared a close and enduring bond with his sister Lori, who was both sibling and best friend. Throughout his school years, Craig formed many friendships that remained strong for a lifetime.
After earning his Landman diploma from Mount Royal College, Craig built a successful career in the oil and gas industry. In his younger years he was known for his competitive spirit and feisty play while broomballing with his close circle of friends. He met the love of his life, Grace, and quickly embraced both her and her son Jason. Together they created a loving family, later welcoming daughters Ashley and Courtney. Craig always placed family first and had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and at home.
He cherished time spent with his family and loved to travel, particularly to Coeur d’Alene, a place filled with treasured memories. Through his work, he proudly built the family’s dream home in Woodbine. Craig will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and his endless supply of classic dad jokes. He was remarkably sharp, able to complete almost any crossword puzzle, and found joy in movies, games, and quiet moments with those he loved most.
He is survived by his wife Grace, son Jason Hayes, daughter Ashley (Andrew) Connell and their children Logan, Lincoln and Sloane, daughter Courtney (Dan) Blodgett and their children Ellie and Rylee. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Lori (Craig) Carleton and a large extended family. He has been welcomed into the embrace of his parents, Robert and Glenna Hayes, who passed before him. Craig’s warmth, humour, and deep devotion to his family will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
