Courtney Berry, 85, of Campton, Kentucky, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on July 8, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Courtney R. and Rose Benovich Berry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Holbrook Berry, whom he lovingly called “Momma.”
A U.S. Army veteran, Courtney served five years—two on active duty and three in the inactive reserves. He later found camaraderie at the Campton VA, where he continued to honor his commitment to his country. For many years he worked as a forklift operator for Ford Motor Company, bringing dedication and steady effort to his role. In his free time, he was an inveterate tinkerer, always repairing old cars, lawnmowers, or whatever else needed fixing. He enjoyed collecting radios and cowboy hats, loved music, and took great pleasure in driving his cherished red 1998 Corvette. A familiar face at the Dairy Queen in Campton, Courtney cherished simple pleasures and the easy conversations they inspired.
He is survived by special friends who became like family—Susan and Kenny Helton, and Anna and Larry Banks—as well as his sons, David Berry and Kevin Berry; stepdaughters, Darlene Bregg and Diane Alsept; and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Courtney’s warmth, adventurous spirit, and talent for fixing things will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.
