Cosette Layne Benavides, of Lubbock, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the age of 15. She was born on May 6, 2010 in Lubbock, to Rick and Lesla Benavides. Cosette brought special joy to her family from the beginning and she warmed hearts in so many ways. She attended Monterey High School where she was a member of the Chorale Varsity Choir, an athletic trainer, and a member of the National Honor Society. Cosette was a beautiful pianist, having played for 11 years. She greatly enjoyed music, and she also enjoyed being a part of her youth group, LOSM (Live Oak Student Ministries). She loved going to summer youth camps and participating in activities at church as well as Young Life every week. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Cosette will deeply be forever missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Rick and Lesla Benavides; sisters, Charlotte and Vada Benavides; grandparents, David and Debbie Griffin, Rick and Roxanne Benavides; great-grandparents, Novella Ivey, Cecilia Benavides, and Susanna Rodriguez; uncles and aunts, Gant Griffin and Kate Bright, Ben and Natalie Benavides, Eric and Priscilla Benavides, Mark Benavides and Annabell Gatica; great aunt and uncle, Becky Ivey and Eric Hosch; several cousins and extended family members and friends.
Cosette was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Wayne and Almeda Griffin, Dellwayne Ivey, and Baldemar Benavides, Sr.; uncle, Michael Griffin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 2201 Broadway St., Lubbock, Tx 79401 with burial to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery. Charlotte and Vada request that guests wear a pop of pink.
