Cortlyn N. Almquist, 85, of Whitewater, formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on September 6, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Nelvin and Agda (Samuelson) Almquist, Cortlyn grew up with a deep connection to agriculture that would shape his life’s work. He married Judy Truelson in Iowa on August 16, 1964.
Cortlyn earned a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in Dairy Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He went on to serve as a farm training instructor at MATC in Fort Atkinson and Watertown for more than two decades. He remained active in the Fort Atkinson FFA Alumni and the Jefferson County Agri-Business Club, while finding great joy in cheering for the Badgers and Brewers. Above all, he cherished following his children and grandchildren to their activities, offering steady love and support.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his children, Jim (Sheri) Almquist and Andrea (John) Schulz; and his grandchildren, Payton and Sydney Almquist and Janelle and Trevor Schulz.
