Corey Miguel Johnson

Corey Miguel Johnson was born on June 29, 1979, in Columbus, Ohio, to his loving parents, Johnnie and Sandra Johnson. He received Christ at an early age and remained a devoted man of faith throughout his life. Under the guidance of Bishop Joseph White at the Pool of Bethesda Church of the Living God International Inc., he began his spiritual journey. He later served at the Temple of Faith Church of God In Christ as armor bearer to the late Bishop Roger James Hairston Sr. and sang in the choir. He completed his service under Pastor Charles A. Montgomery, again serving faithfully as armor bearer and security. Corey deeply loved God and the church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, L.M. and Viola Johnson, and John and Virginia Holland, as well as his oldest brother, Elder Kelly Johnson.

Corey is survived by his loving wife, Carletta Johnson; his children, Da'Shaun (Cassidy) Johnson, Da'Juan Johnson, and Da'Mario Johnson; his parents, Johnnie and Sandra Johnson; his mother-in-law, Deborah Pitts; his brother, Minister Michael (Tamara) Johnson; and siblings John Odoms, Darrell Sumlin, Valissa Sumlin, Sonya Johnson, and Kelly Brown. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Corey cherished life and family. He worked hard to build a good and honorable legacy. He passed away on March 9, 2026, at 4:43 a.m., and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. As the Scripture says, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalms 73:26).
