Constance Bageris

July 5, 1932 March 11, 2026

Troy, MI

Constance Bageris, née Zazas, age 93, of Troy, Michigan, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She joined her devoted husband of 70 years, Plato, in eternal rest.

A devoted and loving mother, Constance is survived by her daughters Andrea (Doug) Rogers, Jennifer (Jeff) Shandler, and Mary Ellen (Scott) Miller. She was the cherished YiaYia of Zachary (Melyssa) Shandler, Christopher Rogers, Alexis (Rick) Hamilton, Sam (Marisa) Rogers, Elena Miller, Suzanne (Nick) Heffron, Jacqueline (Kirby) Taylor, Mary Rogers, and Jennifer Miller, and a loving great-grandmother to seven. She is also survived by her sisters Aynne Zazas and Cristine (Nicholas) Leventis, sister-in-law Diane Bageris, and many fond nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Plato, her parents Andrew and Mary Zazas, and her sister Helen (Gus) Kokas.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, the third of four daughters, Constance graduated from Mackenzie High School at the age of 16. She met her husband Plato at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the parish they attended throughout their youth. She began her career in 1950 at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, where she worked in accounting and formed lifelong friendships. After raising her children, she returned to the workforce in the legal profession, holding positions in accounting and office management until her retirement in 1991. She was known for introducing her daughters to professional life long before “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” became common.

Although Constance’s most cherished role was that of a mother, she was a talented seamstress, excellent homemaker, and cook who passed on her appreciation for good food and gracious entertaining. An avid reader and gardener, she also enjoyed golf, bowling, refinishing furniture, and playing bridge. In her later years, she especially loved playing euchre with her grandchildren. She was happiest when making lasting memories with her family. Constance will be remembered as a strong, selfless woman with a generous heart who always put her family first. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she instilled those same values through her lifelong example.
