CONNOR ROBERTS ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Strunk Funeral Homes and Crematory - Vero Beach on Mar. 9, 2026.Lieutenant Connor Roberts, 84, a life long resident of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026 at his daughter's home in Winter Garden, Florida.Connor was born on May 3, 1941 to the late Charles Franklin Roberts and Avis Marion Osborne in Yukon, Florida. On January 11, 1964, he married Lomey Louise Lane in Jacksonville, Florida. They moved to Vero Beach from Jacksonville in 1965. Their marriage spanned 57 years.Lieutenant Roberts began his employment as a Combat Firefight in December of 1969. He was promoted to the rank of Engineer in February of 1976. On November 29, 1981, he was promoted to Lieutenant and served at that rank for 17 years until his retirement on March 30, 1998 with 28 years of service to the community of Vero Beach in the Fire Division of Indian River County as a First Responder. During his time on the Fire Department, he also served as a Chaplain. In addition to his career, Lieutenant Roberts served as a Deacon and an active member of his church.Survivors include his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Roberts Gill (Randy), his son, Tyler Erin Roberts (Krista), and grandchildren Elizabeth Lane, Arden Grace, Alexis Kathleen and Ava Louise as well as great grandchildren Lainey Grace and Raegan Rae.The family will receive friends 10-11am, Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Genesis Church in Vero Beach with a memorial service celebrating his life beginning at 11am also at the church. Reverend Dr. D. Derrick West will be officiating. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at The Plaza.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
