A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at First Baptist Church Fort Worth.Mrs. Stokes passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Tyler.She was born September 20, 1950 in San Antonio to Nathan Herman and Thelma Roberts Hays.Connie was a member of First Baptist Church Fort Worth, conducted Bible Studies and also was a member of Purpose of Heart Studies. She graduated from Harlandale High and St. Phillips College of San Antonio. She held many different jobs through her life, starting at Joske's as a part time sales person (1966-1968) working for SW Bell Telephone (1968-1970), becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (1979-1985), Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Lee Roberts Hays and father Nathan Herman Hays, half brothers Charles/Buddy and Tommy Ryan. She is survived by her loving family including her loving husband of 55 years Walter Stokes, son, Walter (Wally) Stokes, Jr. and wife Michele Finnin Stokes all of Tyler and granddaughter Taylor Stokes of Charlotte, NC.A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy in Tyler.If desired, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund(https://give.kidneyfund.org)To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
