September 29, 1952— March 10, 2026
Burton, TX
Connie Lou Broussard, 73, of Burton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 29, 1952, in Harlingen, Texas, to JoAnna (Redhage) and Murrell Conklin, Connie grew up in the South Texas Valley. She spent most of her adult life in the Houston area before retiring with her beloved husband, Rick Broussard, to the Texas countryside.
Connie’s family was the center of her world and the greatest source of her joy. A free spirit with a gentle heart, she possessed a unique artistic talent and a deep love for nature. She tended her flowers and vegetable garden with care, preserved the harvest through canning, cherished her dogs, and found quiet delight in birdwatching. Her grandchildren lovingly called her GiGi, and she delighted in cooking special meals for them, baking treats, and fishing together at the pond. Her nieces and nephews adored their Auntie Connie, drawn to her warmth and kindness.
She is survived by her husband, Rick Broussard, sons Charles (Chuck) Baranowski (Melissa Seureau) and Josh Broussard, grandchildren Charlie and Aksel Baranowski, sister Cindy Conklin, sister-in-law Bonnie Smith, aunt Margaret (Peggy) Kolzelski, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, JoAnna and Murrell Conklin, brother Charles Conklin, and grandparents Amanda and George Redhage. Her thoughtful compassion and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
