Connie Laie (Garfield) Kendall Hadley
March 8, 1940— March 6, 2026
Heber City, UT
Connie Laie (Garfield) Kendall Hadley, age 85, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Heber City, Utah.
Born on March 8, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Herman and Mabel (Taylor) Garfield, Connie was their youngest child. She grew up in Magna, Utah, and graduated from Cyprus High School with the Class of 1958. She married Gordon Paul Kendall on August 24, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple after a courtship arranged by his sister. Together they raised five children in their Magna home. Gordon passed away after 27 years of marriage.
Later, through her work at Consolidated Freightways, Connie met Lamar Frank Hadley, who had three children from a previous marriage. They married on December 16, 1989, in Magna. Lamar passed away after 26 years of marriage. Connie often reflected on her life by saying, “I grew up with Gordon, and grew old with Lamar.”
Connie possessed a gift for writing and shared her love of music by playing and teaching piano and organ. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held a deep testimony of God and Jesus Christ and found great meaning in temple work, genealogy, and faithful service in many church callings. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, education, music, a clean kitchen, her homemade canned chili sauce, cheering for BYU, and wearing her favorite T-shirt that declared, “Grandma Life Is the Best Life.” Her perseverance through life’s challenges left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, both brothers, husbands Gordon and Lamar, son James, daughters Jackie and Lesa, stepdaughter Bethany, grandson Ryan, and great-granddaughter Sariah. Connie is survived by her daughter Laie (Douglas) Preslar, son Craig Kendall, daughter-in-law Lizzeth Kendall, stepsons Steven (Peggy) Hadley and David Hadley, twenty-two grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
