Connie was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Jackson 28 years ago. Connie was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph.Connie is lovingly survived by her family: her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Carole of Middletown; her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Anthony Panzarino of Freehold; and her daughter, Phyllis Cappuzzo of Farmingdale. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Anthony and Michelle Panzarino, Nicole and B.J. Ditchkus, Monique and John Brady, Joseph Panzarino, and Jacqueline Cappuzzo, and a cherished "Hammy" to Sophia, Jax, Savannah, and Austin Panzarino; Cora and Willow Ditchkus; and James, Jack, and Ryleigh Brady.She was predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe and Calogera Liota, beloved brothers, Peter and John Liota, and her sister, Fay Scime.Connie's early life was not always easy, as it forged her toughness in a very different Brooklyn than we know today. She was extremely proud of her "Rosie the Riveter" duties during World War II at a Curtiss-Wright defense plant in Buffalo, NY, where she spent time in her early 20s before moving back to Brooklyn. She never went to high school and worked as a seamstress making wedding gowns in NYC's garment district. She was married in 1957 to her adoring husband Joseph, and after raising three children, went back to work as a NYC school lunch lady. In retirement, they relocated to Jackson, NJ to be closer to their growing family. For the next 28 years, she traveled with her husband and spent time with friends. She was an avid Bingo player, always armed with a hefty stash of candy. She especially enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, where you would find her happily seated at the "Flaming Sevens" slot machine with a Pina Colada.More than anything else, she was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's biggest cheerleader spending time at little league games, gymnastics, and dance recitals. She treasured every opportunity to be present in their lives.Connie left this earth to be reunited with her loving husband, Joe, cherished always by her family and friends.Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Wednesday, March 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. On Thursday, March 5th at 10:30 AM Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, in the committal shelter.
