Clyde Lewis Bruner

Clyde Lewis Bruner

Hickory, NC

Clyde Lewis Bruner, 74, of Hickory, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born on March 15, 1951, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clyde Bruner and Ethel Harris Bruner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Combs Bruner.

Lewis was a lifetime member of Sweetwater Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. A graduate of St. Stephens High School and CVCC, he worked for 27 years as a store manager for Winn-Dixie, where he took genuine pleasure in connecting with customers and fellow employees. He was an avid collector of antique toys, a skilled clock builder and repairman, and a proud owner of a 1969 Camaro. A devoted NASCAR fan, he especially admired Bill Elliott.

Above all, Lewis cherished his role as “Paw Paw” and treasured every moment spent with his family. He was a man of strong faith and quiet independence who lived according to his beliefs. In his later years, he carried a deep and abiding love for his wife, whom he missed greatly.

He is survived by his children, Jenifer Carroll (Jamie) of Hickory, North Carolina, Josh Bruner (Sydney) of Wilmington, Delaware, and Brittany Spencer (Chris) of Hickory, North Carolina; his brother, Stewart Bruner (Paula) of Carolina Beach, North Carolina; grandchildren Brannon, Blake (Abby), Brooklynn, Ivan, A.J., Addaline, Ash, and Cade; brothers-in-law Ray Combs (Sheri) and Lee Combs (Cindy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
