Cloyd Smith ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home - Brookville on Mar. 16, 2026.Cloyd Smith, age 91, of Cedar Grove, Indiana, died Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Envive Healthcare in Brookville, Indiana.Born August 9, 1934 in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Galey & Hazel Smith. On June 29, 1954, he and the former Doshie Swafford, were united in marriage, and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2020.He worked for much of his life as a Union Carpenter. In his leisure time he enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter; enjoyed cutting firewood; and was a talented musician playing several instruments including the guitar and mandolin.He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in New Trenton, where he had served as a Trustee and song leader. He was also a member of the Smyrna Boys Gospel & Bluegrass group.Survivors include two children, Terry (Martha) Smith of Cedar Grove, Indiana and Beverly K. (Steve) Howison of West Harrison, Indiana seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Smith of Portage, Michigan.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ted Smith who died November 16, 2012; three sisters, Honour Broughton, Chelsea Mills, Ethel Smith two brothers, R.J. Smith and Woodrow Smith.Family & friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 4047 U.S. Highway 52, New Trenton, Indiana.Steve Messinger & Rob Edwards will officiate the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Smyrna Baptist Church. Burial will then follow in Springfield Cemetery in Bath, Indiana.Memorial contributions may be directed to Smyrna Baptist Church.
